About

Holly Baer is a graduate from the University of Mississippi with a degree in religion and gender studies. Originally from Flowood, Mississippi, she currently lives and works in Beijing, China.

She’s a poet and writer, an okay listener, and a savant at impromptu song parodies. A fan making friends with strangers in bathroom lines and wandering the Beijing streets at night, she spend her days writing and teaching English to children.

  1. Holly, “cousin” Eric here (Eric Miller, the guy who thinks you and he might be related). Curious: what’s Oxford like? Is it a bit “hipper” than your average southern town given it’s a university town (sorry for the implied stereotype about southern towns there)?

    1. Oxford is a strange mix of modern and classic. It’s full of historical architecture and history, while simultaneously having a pretty hip art scene and world-class dining.

Oxford is the best of Mississippi, in my opinion.
